Hartford has been known as the insurance capital of the United States for years. It is less known for its wonderful art scene but it has much to offer adults and children. The Wadsworth Atheneum was the first public art museum in the United States and over the years has been a leader in the art community. The Bushnell offers performances of all kinds, including their Broadway series, The Hartford Symphony, The Hartford Ballet and the Hartford Opera. They have undergone an extensive expansion and now have even more to offer.

Not to be missed is Nooks Farm where you can find the homes of Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Here, in the third quarter of the 19th century they turned Hartford into a glittering literary community in Connecticut.
